November 11th – 2009 – Remembrance Day

Let us take a moment to remember those who have gone before us and put their lives in danger in the line of duty.  Let us remember those who were not fortunate to come home to their loved ones and who died trying to make this world a better place to live in. When Cannons Fade salutes you.

Those Once Loyal

Valiant in the midst of conflict
In memoriam honours distinctive
At half-mast the colours are raised
The tragic waste of life once gave

Immortalised plaque of remembrance
With reverence their names are listed
Glorified and in honour held
In commemorance of those that fell

To those once loyal now wreathed in crimson
Solemn reminder of silent sacrifice
To the once loyal forever wrapped in glory
In white crossed acres – lines of sorrow laid

To those once loyal now wreathed in crimson
Solemn reminder of silent sacrifice
To the once loyal forever wrapped in glory
In white crossed acres – lines of sorrow laid

Brave are the deeds
Of fallen victorious
Never forgotten
Lonely are the glorious

Nurgle Lord WIP! update

OK, just a quickie before I go out for a game of 40K. I started on my Nurgle Lord the other night. I think i’m pretty happy with the armor color, but I want to experiment with some washes as well, check it out:

Hopefully I’ll get him finished this week. I’m pretty happy with how the helmet looks and i’m glad that I added the extra horns, as it makes him look a little more plaguebearer like.

Cheers!

Burn the Heretic!

So, I have finally finished the first Battle Sister of my order, The Ancient Order of the Exalted Saint. The colors are essentially the same as the Protectorate of Menoth, but hey, they are all religious zealots, are they not? The photos are a little blurry, as my GF’s camera seems to be playing games. Plus the lighting seems very ‘orangy’, even though I had 2 lamps right up close. I guess i’ll have to experiment more. Now I have the scheme sorted out, hopefully the rest of the squad should be a whole lot easier to do.  See what you think:

Ave Imperator!

WIP – AoBR Dreadnought – Black Templars

I have started working on my Black Templars Dreadnought. I had already painted the one arm, but was not happy with the highlighting, so I went over it all again last night. I only painted a small part to get a feel  for the black highlighting process. Now that I have a formula I am happy with, I will continue with the rest of it. In the meantime, here is what I have done:

I’m pleased with how he’s looking so far. However, that being said, I don’t think i’ll ever want to paint another AoBR dready, as there is something about it that makes it feel like a toy more than a model. The plastic its made from seems harder and more unforgiving than the regular boxed sets. More to come!

Khador Widowmakers

Here are a few shots of my mean and nasty sniper troops, my Widowmakers. These unpleasant characters soften up my enemy from a distance, whittling the troops down before they get anywhere near me. Human or Jack it makes no difference, as both feel the wrath of the Khadoran sniper rifles.

I generally use these to pick off troops, as I am usually facing Menoth, and if they get close enough, they cause me all sorts of problems, what with the synergy that Menoth seems to have *shakes fist at Evan*. Long range attacks is it, nothing else. If they get in to hand to hand combat, you can kiss them goodbye. On more than one occasion they have been the victim of a successful chain lightning attack as well… Still, Khadors finest marksmen have more than earned their points cost in my army, and they will definitely be staying.  Hail the Widowmakers!

I tend to paint bases in large batches, hence these haven’t been done yet 🙂

WIP – Black Templar Assault Terminators

Yes, you read right, yet more work in progress! The reason for this, and the lack of my painting right now, is simply due to time, the holidays and all that jazz. Now that I am getting back into my routine, i’ll be slapping the paint on as well! Hurrah!

I was more than a little wary of dropping $50 on a set of 5 plastic assembly figures, and I still can’t believe I did, but it was xmas money, so I don’t feel so bad I guess. I had a bunch of the Forge World Terminator upgrades for xmas too, which consisted of 10 shoulder pads and 5 bad-ass looking shields.

The actual figures were very easy to put together and fit together great. The poseability of them really is incredible and puts the old skool ones to shame in their similar poses and limited convertability. The addition of the Forge World parts really makes these Terminators pop, and I am really excited about getting them painted. They have a sort of medieval air about them, which is perfect for these zealous troops.  I am thinking that the shields will be split colors, down the middle, with whatever combination their ‘livery’ will be in, adding to that ‘olde worlde’ flair. See what you think:

Needless to say I have been left with a bunch of spare Terminator parts, lightning claws, a hammer, shields, shoulder pads and some assorted bits and pieces, so I’ll probably be putting those up on the bay, for anyone who’s interested 🙂

Fight till the end, whatever the challenge!
