Infinity Aquila Guard finished!

Super quick update today, finished my Aquila Guard for my small (but growing) Infinity PanOceania force. Pretty pleased with the results! Here he is:

I really like the posing on this guy, the way the jacket is flowing, you can almost hear the howling wind blowing down the boulevard while he locks onto his next target with his sensors. I’m hoping that I can knock out 3 fusiliers in the next couple of weeks so I can actually start playing with a painted unit! Here is a group shot of the ones I’ve done so far:

I’m glad I went with the purple instead of the regular blue for PanO. More coming soon!

lastly, I’d like to say a big THANKS to all the new people who have subscribed to my blog. This means I’m going to have to start writing with more substance now lol! Cheers!

Let there be rot…

Another quick post today to share my newly finished Nurgle Plague Lord. I started this guy a couple of years ago, and then he got shelved when we moved, so I’m finishing up the few figures that are half done. I went old skool on this guy with the Dark Tongue runes on his base:

Nurgle has always been my favorite of the Chaos powers, so it was only right that this guy got finished. Next on the ‘need to be finished cuz they’re only half done are a couple of lizardmen skinks and a Genestealer. Then onto the obscene amount of miniatures that are only undercoated lol!

Poor financial decisions recently saw me acquiring the new 40K Dark Millennium box set (hey, it has Nurgle marines, hell YES!!!). I packed it away in the nerdcloset as soon as I bought it home as an incentive to get other stuff painted up before I tackle that stuff. I’m not sure how I feel about the introduction of the new Primaris marines. This is GW phasing out the ‘old’ style marines. Mark my words. Anyhoo, I thought it would be something that me and my son could play, especially with the new different styles of game play. I commend GW for their recent 180 with listening to their fanbase and being actually pretty cool and fun again, but I’m still sulking until I get new Sisters miniatures. Nyah!

TTFN!

Appleseed? Bubblegum Crisis? Dominion Tank Police, or just…

I know nothing at all about Infinity. I heard it was a complex game to master, but once you had it down, it could be quite a riot. I never really paid it much attention, that is, until this year’s Adepticon. Totally blown away by some of the display pieces I was eyeballing there, as well as the fantastic miniatures, I came away feeling kinda how I did when I first discovered the hobby – quite giddy!

I joined up with the official forums to cruise and see what the deal is with this game and the universe that it is set in, and seeing the very anime-inspired touches throughout the whole thing got me well and truly fired up. Bubblegum Crisis is one of my favorite Japanese animations, and for those of you who don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, educate yourself for a moment:

What more do you need than five gals kicking cybernetic ass in powered armor against the soundtrack of 80’s Japanese rock music? not much. It’s very obvious that Infinity borrows very heavily from this genre, and I’m totally OK with that. It certainly makes for a refreshing change.

Recently I scored some Bubblegum Crisis miniatures on Ebay from the now defunct company Animail who for a short period of time in the early 90’s was releasing licensed metal miniatures from various properties. Here are the gals in all their unpainted glory:

…and one of them painted up:

You can see that there are some similarities between the Knight Sabres and the ORC Troopers from Infinity:

ORC WIP 2aSo anyway, These are my first tentative steps on the road to Infinity (there is a song in there somewhere I’m sure). I picked up the 2nd edition rulebook to get a handle on the world and the fluff. I’m hoping to pick up the new starter box set in the next few weeks. Looks like for now my army is going to be PanOceania. Now I just have to figure out putting the army lists together… Anyone out there have anything they can tell me about the game that a n00b should know in the early days?

Thanks for checking out my post about nothing lol!
